Summer Leadership Institute: Project Based Learning
Are you ready to build rich and authentic learning experiences that empower your students? Begin your journey into project-based learning with the experienced team of trainers and coaches at the Discovery Place Education Studio. Students that engage in a project-based learning model grapple with a real-world problem and answer complex questions through the production of public products. At Discovery Place Education Studio, we see teachers as professional learners, so educators enrolled in this four-day intensive will learn to design or adapt standards-based projects through introduction to practical methods, co-planning, and feedback from instructors and peers. By the end of the session, teachers will have worked on facilitation strategies, assessment integration, feedback methods and student progress monitoring.
Course Extensions: Adopting new pedagogy is a process that takes time. Participants in the June session will gain access to a series of three half-day sessions scheduled in the Fall and Winter of 2020. These sessions fall during the window when participants will be executing newly developed Project Based Learning units in their classrooms, so they offer support in a time where questions and contextual situations naturally arise. The course extension sessions will be conducted at the Education Studio and broadcast via webinar for those unable to attend in person.
