Get into the Halloween spirit this month at Discovery Place

Discovery Place

It’s all a bunch of hocus pocus at Discovery Place museums this October as we celebrate all things spooktacular leading up to Halloween. Check out these events you don’t want to miss in October at all our Museum locations.

Kick off spooky season this Friday, October 18 at Discovery Place Science with Science on the Rocks: Cult Classics. Celebrate your favorite cult classic movies and Halloween by learning about the body from the bride of Frankenstein, discover how they made Jaws so scary and dress up in your most creative costume for a costume contest!

On Saturday, October 19, explore the world where science and magic collide with Wizards at Work Discovery Place Kids-Rockingham. Wizard potions are just like chemical reactions. They can fizz, bubble, release heat and some even get cool. Bring little wizards by to “cook up” some chemistry in our Spooky Science Lab.

Join us again at Discovery Place Science the following week for some science experiments that will bubble and boil. Cool Chemistry Day takes place all day at the Museum on Saturday, October 26. Guests will have a spooktacular and explosive time during our celebration of National Chemistry Day. We will have experiments that bubble, ooze, explode and light up.

On Saturday, October 26, you can also head over to Discovery Place Nature with your young naturalist for our annual Boo Bash. This Halloween celebration is too cute to spook and gives visitors the chance to explore what goes bump in the night with delightful daytime activities. Enjoy crafts, silly stories, special shows and animal encounters with some of our creepy crawlies. It wouldn’t be a bash without a costume contest, so don your finest nature-themed costume for the chance to win a prize!

Do you want to get in on even more Halloween fun in the outdoors? Take a walk in the wild at our Haunted Nature Walk on Wednesday, October 30. Come to Discovery Place Nature in your costumes, trick-or-treat around the Paw Paw Nature Trail with a Naturalist and learn about the spooky critters of the Piedmont region.

Bring Halloween fun to close on Halloween itself, Thursday, October 31 at our kids Museums. At Discovery Place Kids-Huntersville, we will open our Secret Lab to bring out our spookiest experiments for Spooky Science. Dance the Monster Mash with us as we take part in activities and hand out goodies.

You can also stop by Discovery Place Kids-Rockingham on Halloween for treats at Rockingham’s Downtown Spooktacular, a community-wide trick-or-treating party.
