Discovery Place celebrates Earth Day

Discovery Place

Earth Day is this Saturday, April 22, and all Discovery Place museums will be participating throughout the weekend. Here's how our educators are helping to spread the word about the importance of taking care of our blue planet:

Discovery Place Science: Earth Day with Trees Charlotte - Thursday, April 20

In celebration of Earth Day, Trees Charlotte will be in the Musuem passing out free native tree saplings (while supplies last). Take one home and plant it to keep the Charlotte canopy growing.

Discovery Place Nature: The Buzz on Bees - Saturday, April 22

The bees will be buzzing as we reveal the Museum's new observation hive at this month's Creature Feature. Supporters and vendors from Bee Downtown, Cloister Honey, Tupelo Honey and Joe's Doughs will be on site to help us celebrate.

Discovery Place Kids-Huntersville: Michael Recycle and We Dig Earth Day - Saturday, April 22

Huntersville is digging in the dirt! In the Learning Garden, little guests will be planting seeds to kick off the new growing season. A special Earth Day story time featuring the book Michael Recycle will take place at Town Center, followed by a recycling craft afterwards.

Discovery Place Kids-Rockingham: Earth Day Garden - Saturday, April 22

Bring out your shovels and gardening gloves! Our Creative Play Professionals in Rockingham will be helping little gardeners plant vegetables and flowers to take home so they can build their own gardens.

Charlotte March for Science: Teach-In - Saturday, April 22

The March for Science is a celebration of our passion for science and a call to support and safeguard the scientific community. Discovery Place's Outreach team will be hosting a tent during the Charlotte rally's Teach-In expo to present educational programming to the community. Discovery Place will joined by community partners such as Carolina Raptor Center, UNC Charlotte, Catawba Riverkeepers Foundation and the Native Plant Society.
