Welcome to Discovery Place
Discovery Place is a private 501c(3) not-for-profit education organization dedicated to inspiring exploration of science and the natural world through extraordinary exhibits and educational programs that inform, challenge and engage audiences of all ages.
We aspire to shape a future where people embrace science to create opportunities, build hope, solve problems and bring positive change for our world.
Through a network of four hands-on museums in three different cities, educational outreach programs and professional development for teachers, Discovery Place is a leader in STEM education in the Carolinas.
Celebrating more than 70 years of inspiring Charlotte
Since 1946, when a young teacher wanted to provide hands-on learning to her students, Discovery Place museums have been offering interactive educational experiences to students and families in the region. Today, through four museums in three cities and community outreach programs throughout the Carolinas, we serve three-quarters of a million people a year with high-energy, high-impact science education that is helping to build our region's future.
Build bridges to STEM education
Discovery Place Education Studio provides customized professional development in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) to educators across the region at our state-of-the-art facility in uptown Charlotte or delivered right to your school.
