DISCOVERY PLACE BIRTHDAY PARTY FAQs
Birthday parties are provided at both Discovery Place and Charlotte Nature Museum.

What is the age range for party participants?
Parties are available for children ages 3 & older.

How many people can attend?
Due to safety codes and fire regulations, the birthday party room can only accommodate a total of 18 people (children and/or adults). Adults who wish to remain with their child will only be allowed in the public areas of the Museum. However, if that adult is not part of the 18 total party-goers Museum admission is required.

What is the duration of the party?
Parties are 90 minutes in length. The first hour is dedicated to activities related to the party theme such as crafts, live animal encounters, story time, visiting exhibits, etc. The final 30 minutes are designated for refreshments and opening presents (optional). This outline may vary due to the different program times and can be modified to meet individual requests.

When are parties available at Discovery Place?
Parties are available 7 days a week.
- Mondays – Fridays: 3:00 p.m.
- Saturdays: 10:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
- Sundays: 12:30 p.m. and 3:00 pm
Birthday parties are not available on major holidays.

What is included in the party package?
Each party package includes Museum admission, birthday cake, refreshments, a party favor for each child and a specialized demonstration with a Museum presenter who hosts the party.

Additional information about the cake and party favors:
There are two cake options, a single-layer decorated sheet cake from Harris Teeter that serves 24 or a double layer round ice cream cake from Ben & Jerry’s. The cake is decorated with “Happy Birthday!” confetti sprinkles and a bow. Party favors are chosen to correlate with the party theme, such as finger puppets, mini basketball game sets, plush animals, etc.

How much does a birthday party cost?
Members: $200 / $230 for non-Members

How do I schedule a birthday party?
Call 704.372.6261 x306. Fees are payable in-full on the day of scheduling. Fees are subject to change without notice. Reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance. Cake requests cannot be changed less than 1 week prior to the party.

What if the party needs to be canceled?
Cancellations made more than seven days in advance receive a full refund. Parties cancelled less than seven days in advance will receive a refund minus a $30 service fee.

Parking: Parking is included in the party package for each guest. Guests MUST bring their parking ticket to the Guest Services Desk (located inside the Museum) to be validated. Parents can also drop off and pick up children in front of the 6th Street entrance.
