Today's a Great Day for Discovery New to IMAX: Legends of Flight Break from the Ordinary. Discover the Extraordinary.

Welcome to the new Discovery Place website. This is one of many changes that we are making to the Museum in the coming months. As you might know, Discovery Place is in the midst of a $31.6 million renovation that will reinvent your experience by filling the Museum with all-new exhibits. The process is a long one — we won’t finish until June 2010 — but there will be multiple stops along the way where we will introduce new exhibitions and activities that we hope will encourage and engage you in the exploration of contemporary science.

This new website is designed to showcase all of the new exhibitions as they are unveiled and to help you navigate around Discovery Place as we make changes over the next 12 months. Renovating a 100,000 square foot facility while it remains open to the public is complicated and the next four months will be the most intensive. To help compensate you for your patience, we’ve introduced special renovation pricing for Museum admission and Memberships, available for this limited time period. There’s still lots to do and see and touch in the Museum including the brand new exhibition SHIPWRECK! Pirates & Treasure. We hope you’ll take advantage of these special offers to enjoy Discovery Place now and get a taste of what is coming in the future.

We went to the Tellus Museum this week in NW Georgia and it reminded me of Discovery place. It was a great museum but has a way to go to catch up to Discovery Place.

I have been to Discovery Place two times. The first time I went I was in elementary school and went with my Mom's middle school science class on a field trip. I remember seeing the Ramses the Great exhibit, real mummies and riding an earthquake simulation. I will never forget that experience, I had a blast! My second visit, approximately 19 years later, was this past December. I must say there were alot of changes. My best friend and I went to see the exhibit A Day in Pompeii. I think that may have been the most interesting thing I've ever seen in my life. It was unbelievable the way those poor people were preserved in the same exact position as the day they perished. And it amazed me how similar their society was to todays. I can't wait to see Shipwrecked! To be continued...

Thanks So Much!

My family and I came down to Discovery Place especially for the shipwreck exhibit. We were not disappointed in anything. I want to say " Thank You" to all that had a part in bringing something so wonderful to the area. We are from Lenoir, NC and consider it well worth the drive to see this exhibit. Discovery Place is a wonderful place for anyone....one that I highly recommend to anyone....especially families with children.I hope to see many more exciting exhibits , like these, at Discovery in the near future.
Thanks again,
Sandra Wallace and family
