Free Admission for Educators at Discovery Place Educator Open Houses
Day-long events scheduled for Discovery Place, Charlotte Nature Museum and Discovery Place KIDS
September 01, 2011CHARLOTTE The Discovery Place family of museums will offer educators the chance to immerse themselves in the magic of science, nature and imagination by offering special educator days with free admission at Discovery Place, Charlotte Nature Museum and Discovery Place KIDS this month. Day-long Educator Open Houses will be hosted at each location on specific Saturdays in September with complimentary admission for all educators plus one guest. Attendees will be eligible to win free field trips, ScienceReach classes or Museum classes for their students.
Bringing Teaching Lessons to Life
Each Educator Open House will feature special stations showcasing the curriculum, classes and labs offered as well as a chance to meet some of the staff members who facilitate Museum educational programming and field trips. Educators can explore the Museums through the eyes of their students by playing in the hands-on lab spaces, observing a poison dart and salamander feeding, checking out animal rescue and rehabilitation in Born To Be Wild in Discovery Places IMAX® Dome Theatre and much more.
Educator Open Houses will be held on the following Saturdays in September:
Discovery Place September 10
Charlotte Nature Museum September 17
Discovery Place KIDS September 24
All Educator Open Houses will run from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Educators participating in any of the Educator Open Houses must show their school ID in order to get free admission for themselves and one guest. Parking will also be free for educators on the day of each event. Reservations are not required but educators should visit the Educator check-in desk upon arrival to register and receive information, vouchers for a free IMAX film (at Discovery Place only) and parking validation.
