Discovery Place, Inc. Receives Award Recognitions

Museums continue to attract visitors with renovated and new facilities

May 26, 2011

Discovery Place, Inc. has received several recent accolades from the business community, including two prestigious Charlotte Magazine Best of the Best 2011 awards which honored Discovery Place as Best Museum (Ages 9 to 13) and Discovery Place KIDS-Huntersville as Best Museum (Age 8 and Under). Discovery Place was also named Best Place to Take the Kids on a Rainy Day in the CharlotteSmartyPants.com 2011 Smarty Awards.

In addition, Discovery Place’s Cool Stuff exhibition has also been honored with an Award for Interior Design from the American Institute of Architects, AIA Hampton Roads chapter, as part of the organization’s annual award contest. The award commends the exhibition’s innovation and design, including colors, materials, technology, layout and appeal to its target audience.

Earlier this year Discovery Place, Inc. was ranked as the most visited museum and historic attraction in the Charlotte region and seventh overall in North Carolina by an annual survey released by Carolina Publishing Associates. Additionally, the advertising campaign to introduce Discovery Place after its 2010 renovation won two silver ADDY awards for Wray Ward, one of the Southeast’s leading independent creative marketing firms.
