WHAT
Discovery Place and Midtown OB/GYN will offer a hands-on opportunity to learn about one of the most technologically advanced surgical tools - the da Vinci robot. (NOTE: for printable photos of the robot, please visit: da Vinci in OR, Dual Console in OR, Hands on Control, Nurse at Patient Cart)

The robot will be in Explore More Life at Discovery Place, the Museum’s one-of-a-kind lab where visitors can engage in real-world science and interactive experiments. In addition to immersing themselves in intriguing life science in the lab, guests can “test-drive” the robot by moving the controls (as a doctor would do in surgery) and learn how this advanced surgical instrument offers a better option for complex surgical procedures in gynecology, urology, cardiothoracic and general surgeries.

The da Vinci robot will be at Discovery Place from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 28. Media photo opportunities: 10:00 a.m. – noon.

Discovery Place
Discovery Place is open Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m until 4:00 p.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., and Sunday 12:00 noon until 5:00 p.m. Ticket pricing is: $12 for adults (14-59); $9 for children (2-13) and seniors (60+); and free for children younger than 2. Tickets can be purchased in person at the Museum or by calling 704-372-6261 x300. Group discounts and reservations are available.

Discovery Place is located in uptown Charlotte at 301 N. Tryon Street. Convenient parking is available in the Museum’s parking deck – the Carol Grotnes Belk Complex – at the corner of Sixth and Church Streets.
