Embark on a Summer Science Adventure at Discovery Place Camps
Registration opens for camps offered at locations across Charlotte Metro area
March 09, 2011CHARLOTTE, N.C. Did you ever want to be an undercover agent? Or an amusement park designer? Or a creative scientist who explores weird, wacky things that fizz, bubble and pop? Registration for Discovery Place summer camps is now open, offering an extensive variety of camps for kids from pre-school through rising 8th grade. Campers can participate in new science-based adventures each day at locations across the Charlotte Metro area that balance structured, content-based activities with hands-on fun.
Highlights include Motorsports Mania, a camp that explores the physics of racing through the design and testing of a Pinewood Derby car and Bio Bonanza, an opportunity to interact with Discovery Places animal residents while exploring the worlds plants and animals. Dive into Outdoor Adventures: H20 and hit the road to experience water adventures while learning about how water is processed and where it comes from. Summer Science Institute is a one-of-a-kind camp for rising 2nd and 3rd graders that takes participants behind-the-scenes of Discovery Place, where they can dissect a frog, design a model house, culture bacteria from their own body and more.
Discovery Place 2011 summer camps are offered at Discovery Place in uptown Charlotte and at locations throughout the metro area including Carolinas Aviation Museum, Lake Norman Charter School, Earp-Williams Post #4059 of the VFW building in Mint Hill and The Hut Meeting Facility in Pineville, making it easy to find a science adventure just around the corner from home.
