S.O.S. Planet Opens at Discovery Places Discovery 3D Theatre
Live action animation film underscores Earths most pressing environmental issues
December 01, 2010CHARLOTTE, N.C. Journeying from the thrill of the rainforests to the wilds of the Arctic to the depths of the oceans Discovery Place brings the planets fragile ecosystems to the digital movie screen in an animated, family-friendly format with todays opening of S.O.S. Planet at Discovery 3D Theatre.
Respected television journalist Walter Cronkite takes viewers on a worldwide adventure as he investigates three of the most serious environmental issues facing Earth today: deforestation, ocean habitat destruction and global warming. The cause and effect of each condition is highlighted through state-of-the-art, immersive 3-D and digital animation with remarkably realistic computer-generated images, including a sea turtle, orangutan, octopus, seahorse and a polar bear family. With charismatic and lovable human mannerisms, these creatures must carefully navigate the changing conditions of their habitats while seeking safety and a stable living environment.
S.O.S. Planet, produced by nWave Pictures in association with the World Wide Fund for Nature The Netherlands delivers a serious underlying message of taking responsibility for habitat conservation and respecting the planet. Through larger-than-life characters and the allure of 3-D imagery, the film focuses on highlighting the perilous future of our natural communities while at the same time raising public awareness of climatic threats.
