Parents Magazine Names Discovery Place as one of Top 20 Science Centers for Families

Museum ranks among best in the nation for families with preschool children

For parents who are unsure if their pre-kindergarteners can really appreciate a visit to a science center, Parents Magazine has given Discovery Place an emphatic stamp of approval. In the September 2008 issue, Discovery Place is recognized as a national Top 20 science center for families with young children.

Parents Magazine performed extensive research on and distributed surveys to more than 150 science museums nationwide. Museums were evaluated not only on exhibits, but also on hands-on learning opportunities, science demonstrations, special events and classes. Discovery Place was recognized for providing an exceptional visitor experience to young families and commended specifically on KidsPlace, a special segment of the Museum geared towards children age six and younger. In KidsPlace, children learn about the senses, health, dinosaurs and nature through age-specific, interactive activities including a tree house, water blocks and a role-playing area.

Parents can look forward to enjoying KidsPlace throughout the Museum renovation period.

Discovery Place is located in uptown Charlotte at 301 N. Tryon Street.
