Recycle Outside of the Box at Charlotte Nature Museum’s Earth Day Festival
Creature Feature event sponsored by Earth Fare, Saturday, April 18, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
April 16, 2009CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Did you know that the average fresh food item on your dinner table travels 1,500 miles to get there? And that eating locally helps fight global warming? Or that by using a recycled-handle toothbrush, thousands of pounds of plastic could be prevented from entering landfills? Learn ways to be green and have a big impact at Earth Day Festival, Saturday, April 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Take this Saturday to celebrate the earth with your family and Charlotte Nature Museum. Through educational and fun activities, you can explore how small changes in personal actions and daily habits go a long way in tending the earth. Receive a recycle bin (while supplies last), dig up the dirt on yard-waste composting, go on the “Treasures on the Trail” scavenger hunt, watch the EcoWarrior puppet show and more! Plus, get up to speed with a sneak peek of the latest in hybrid-car technology and be among the first to view the new 2010 Next Generation Prius from Toyota.
Be sure to pick up a “green” family activity book from our partners at WTVI and don’t forget to enter the raffle to test out a hybrid for a week!
